98 Cannon Riverfront Grille on the Chestertown waterfront has expanded breakfast service to seven days a week with its menu balanced with traditional favorites and signature items.
Chef Chris Golder has taken breakfast seriously since he opened in May 2019. And yes, you could eat breakfast there for seven days straight and always have new choices. The menu speaks for itself.
For Eggs Benedict lovers, 98 Cannon has four choices including the classic-poached egg nestled on house-cured ham atop an english muffin and served with Hollandaise sauce. The Riverfront “Bene” substitutes ham with sauteed lump crab meat and sliced tomato. The Veggie Benedict includes fried green tomatoes, seasonal vegetables, and spinach.
Scrapple aficionados should add 98 Cannon to your trail. Whether you order the duck-turkey scrapple on the side or 98 Cannon’s Duck-Turkey Scapple Ben, this scrapple is worth the visit.
Golder combines duck and turkey with stone ground cornmeal and a traditional spice and herb mix. The scrapple comes out crisp on the outside and warm and delicious on the inside. If you like extra crispy, let your server know.
The Duck-Turkey Scrapple Ben starts with a split buttermilk biscuit that is toasted. Next comes the scrapple topped with a poached egg and Hollandaise sauce. It’s finished off with a garnish of fresh parsley.
The waterfront dining on the deck will continue into the fall. The restaurant will bring back the seasonal enclosures as colder weather arrives and has installed electric heaters.
