Barbara Esmonde, chef/owner of Barbara’s on the Bay, in Betterton announced she is making changes to her operations as she heads into the fall to respond to the COVID-19 dining market place.
“For the best interest of my diners, staff and business, I am suspending in-restaurant dining after August 30,” Esmonde said.
“I am going to pivot to carryout and delivery to meet at home dining demand,” she continued.
She will start with deliveries to Betterton, Still Pond and Chestertown to test the market.
“Some staff will remain in kitchen, some will shift to delivery,” Esmonde said.
Barbara’s waterfront facility will be available for private events.
“Socially distanced, no more than 30 people, and consistent with Health Dept Guidelines,” Esmonde said.
“There is a market for special ordered meals,” she explained. “I hear from out of town family members looking to order prepared meals for senior parents’ freezers.”
As she moves in this new direction, Esmonde stressed she could only maneuver with the help of her landlord, Jerry Inglesby.
