Giving high praise to Gov. Larry Hogan for leading the state “through one of the toughest times in our history,” Kent Commissioner Ron Fithian said moving to Stage 1 was “welcoming news.”
“I like the idea that he is allowing the counties to decide for themselves how best to reopen our communities based on our individual circumstances,” he said in a brief call late Wednesday. “I feel confident knowing Hogan is comfortable taking the next step to get the state moving again.”
Although he had yet to talk to fellow commissioners, Tom Mason and Bob Jacob, he believes Kent County is “ready and anxious” to get the local economy moving again.
Fithian echoed Hogan that everyone should continue to follow safety guidelines to keep the COVID-19 infection rate on the decline.
“The safer we move through Stage 1 the sooner we’ll get to Stage 2,” he said.
