The Kent Pilot is recruiting supporters as committed as we are to setting the pace of local news coverage in the community.

We launched as COVID-19 consumed the headlines and our lives. Since then, we stayed right with the story. We set the tone for our coverage with our interview with Dr. Wendy Cronin, a retired infectious disease specialist. Just today we broke the news of a major COVID-19 outbreak at a local nursing home and the actions being taken to protect patients and staff.

Our coverage includes the stories of individuals who are making Kent’s COVID-19 survival possible. We have had regular coverage of the Sumner Hall Face Mask Challenge and the Social Action Committee for Racial Justice’s elderly and children food supply initiative, two grassroots efforts to address pressing local needs. And there was Echo Hill Outdoor School’s creative solution to help provide an informative distraction during such stressful times.

The Kent Pilot is local. We don’t zoom in from elsewhere.

The Kent Pilot is a nonprofit organization. We are online through contributions from readers and business sponsors. These are steps that you can take to support the Kent Pilot: contribute by check or online, subscribe to our Daily Edition e-blast, Like and Share our stories on Facebook.
