The Kent Pilot has been so busy covering local news that we have put off sharing some good news of our own.

The Kent Pilot is pleased to announce that the IRS has determined that our publishing activities are exempt from federal income taxation. Even as COVID-19 complicates the tax world, the IRS accepted our online application on February 27, 2020 and issued its non-profit status determination letter on March 27. Our non-profit status was retroactive back to February 22, 2020.

Not bad turnaround despite all the other issues going on.

The Kent Pilot has been publishing for just a month. We have had over 10,000 visitors to the site since we launched. Unique visitors grow daily. A good start in “online land.”

Whether it is covering state and local government or reporting on stories from the front lines of COVID-19, our editorial team is working every day to deliver on our goal of being Kent County’s reliable daily local news source.
