The public is invited to “A Conversation with Comptroller Peter Franchot” at the September meeting of the Democratic Club of Kent County, Thursday 9/17/20. The meeting will take place via Zoom, with a social time at 6:15 pm, followed by Mr. Franchot speaking at 6:30 that evening.

As Maryland’s chief fiscal officer, Comptroller Franchot is a tireless champion for working families and small businesses, and a stalwart advocate for fiscal policies that strengthen our state’s economy. As chief executive officer of a 1,100-person state agency, Comptroller Franchot is focused on delivering respectful, responsive, and results-oriented taxpayer service, and the Maryland Comptroller’s Office, under his leadership, is considered one of the most effective and efficient Comptroller’s Office in the nation. He serves on the Board of Public Works, a three-member panel which includes the Governor and Maryland Treasurer, and which is responsible for reviewing and approving billions of dollars in state contracts annually.

Mr. Franchot has served as Maryland’s Comptroller since January 2007, having represented Maryland’s 20th District in the House of Delegates for 20 years prior to that. Mr. Franchot has been a frequent visitor to Kent County and to rural Maryland, highlighting and honoring small businesses and community activities around the state. He often appears to be following in the illustrious footsteps of the colorful and popular Louis Goldstein, who served as Comptroller for almost 40 years. In January 2020 Mr. Franchot confirmed that he will run for Maryland Governor in 2022.

DCKC members will receive a Zoom link for this meeting. Contact the club at if you are not a member and would like to attend.
