Washington College reported at 5 p.m. Wednesday that an off-campus student has tested positive for COVID-19.

The student attended an outdoor gathering at a fellow student’s private residence on March 13.

The student returned to his home state where he tested positive on March 22. He is under medical supervision and remains in a 14-day self-quarantine under CDC guidelines.

The student’s roommates returned to their homes after the college went to all remote learning on March 16. The college and Kent County health officials are working to identify those who came in contact with the student from March 13-15.

They are asking anyone who attended the March 13 off-campus gathering to self-quarantine for 14-days and contact the Kent County Health Department at 410-778-1350.

News of the positive test came hours after the college reported that another student hospitalized here had tested negative for the virus.
