Audrey Ann (Black) Downes was born May 13, 1944 in Fairlee, Maryland. She earned her wings Thursday 10:05 PM at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland surrounded by her three beloved children. Ann as we always called her attended Worton Point and Garnet School. She graduated in 1962. Ann married James (Bobby) Downes and they became parents of three children.
Ann attended Mt. Pleasant UM Church and Boardly Chapel in Pondtown, Maryland. She worked several jobs before starting Con Agra until she retired. She was the mother of the community. Her rules were, you are in my house, you get the same punishment my kids get. She liked to have people around. Ann loved to dance, play cards, and sleep. When Ann, Elinore, and Joyce got together, the party was on.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents Emma and Harrison Black; her husband James (Bobby) Downes; granddaughter Shardae Downes; two brothers, Rudolph and Harrison (Sonny) Black; and one sister, Shirley Sewell.
