Mrs. Grieb was born on August 30, 1926 in Paris, France to her late parents Marc and Germaine Sage Margotin. She grew up in Paris and Reims, France and attended Art School, which was disrupted by the World War II German occupation.
She met her husband, William Clarke Grieb, Jr., in Paris in 1945 and they married in June of 1947 at Old St. Paul’s Kent Episcopal Church. They lived in New York City before moving to Chestertown in 1964.
During her time in Chestertown, Mrs. Grieb was a volunteer at the Chester River Hospital. She loved art, animals (especially dogs), riding horses, and sailing. She will be remembered for her sweet disposition and genuine love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Grieb, her brother, Jacques Margotin and two children, Severine Hernandez and Eric Grieb.
She is survived by two sons, Patrick Grieb (Patty) and Mitchell Grieb (Beth), both of Chestertown, MD; sister-in-law, Simone Margotin of Paris, France; son-in-law Leo Hernandez of Miami, FL; four grandchildren, Erica Hernandez (Matthew Fiore) , Alison Hernandez ( Justin Husk), Marcia Fellows (Jon) , and Andrew Grieb ; and three great-grandchildren, Chase, Connor, and Cameron Fellows and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Compass Regional Hospice for their extreme dedication and professionalism. They especially thank Eliza George of Comfort Keepers for taking such wonderful care of Mrs. Grieb, “TATI”, for the past few months.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Compass Regional Hospice.
