Remembering Cleveland Melvin Steward

Cleveland Melvin Steward Sr.

God called Cleveland Melvin Steward Sr. home on February 24, 2021. He was born Feb. 14, 1934 to Wilber & Katie May Steward of Chestertown. Cleveland was a man of a few words. He attended Garnett School in which he graduated in 1952 and then off to the service until 1955.

While in the service he earned MP and three metals. He also belong to parker White 143 for 25 years and he played for Jazz Johnson Band he was the Drummer. And also received a metal for playing for 13 years.

Cleveland worked for Campbell Soup and the Tri-State and Kent County Court house for 13 years when he retired .

Cleveland was preceded in death by his parents and son Cleveland Jr., two sisters Molly & Agnes, two brothers George and Alfred, in addition to his step son and step daughter.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Rader Steward, his children and step children, his sister-in-law Vonceal, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cleveland wasn’t a Church man but he did believe in Serving God and knowing the Bible.

Services will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam funeral home on Wednesday, March 3, with a visitation from 9 am to 11 am and services at 11 am.
