Dorothy Mae Churay Bostic

Dorothy Mae Churay Bostic, 89, of Price, MD, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2021.

She was born on May 22, 1932, in Massey, Maryland, to George and Mary Bena Churay. She married Raymond Bostic in 1951 and happily farmed in Price, Maryland, together for 53 years before he passed away in 2004.

Dorothy and Raymond lived a life of love and laughter together dancing, bowling, and generally causing a ruckus. Known for her quick tongue, tomatoes, hard-headedness, and homemade soup, Dorothy spent the days after Raymond passed surrounded by the people she loved most doing exactly, and only, what she wanted to do. In particular, she loved nothing better than spoiling her great-grandchildren by letting them get away with things their parents and grandparents could never have. Recently Dorothy mastered the iPad, sending emoji-filled emails to family far and wide, and enjoyed a sun-soaked and fun-filled winter in Florida. She will be missed tremendously and remembered daily by a family who loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons Michael (Catherine) and James (Dee), both of Church Hill, MD; grandchildren Catey Moore (Seth) of Greensboro, NC; Beth (Tyler) Ferry of Port Deposit, MD; Jennifer Schmalzbach (Raul) of Lincoln University, PA; Michael (Desiree) of Price, MD; and Dr. Sandra Stacey (Brandon) of Smyrna, DE. She was delighted by and devoted to her great-grandchildren Teddy and Tommy Moore, Grace and Jack Ferry, Amelia Schmalzbach, Brandon Stacey, Jr., and Ellie Marie Bostic.

Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her loving husband, Raymond, who has been waiting patiently for her for over 17 years. A memorial graveside service will be held by Rev. Vonnie Paxton of Kenedyville United Methodist Church at the Sudlersville Cemetery on June 23 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests you remember Dorothy by planting lots of tomatoes and then complaining you’ve got too many, and nobody is eating them.
