Jennie Lee Rodney of Rock Hall, Maryland died on December 13, 2020 at Compass Regional Hospice House in Centreville, MD. She was 76.
She was a 1962 graduate of Chestertown High School and on June 22, 1963, married Walter Vernon Rodney, Jr. in Bond Chapel Church. They resided in Chestertown before moving abroad to Turkey in 1965 while Mr. Rodney was serving in the USAF. They returned to the United States and settled in Rock Hall where she raised her family.
Mrs. Rodney worked as a bookkeeper at Bonnett’s Department Store and a Secretary with the State Highway Administration. She was employed as a Secretary with the Red Cross while in Turkey, and a Cafeteria Worker with Kent County Public Schools. Prior to retiring, she worked at Dixon Valve in the Engineering Department from May of 1990 to January of 2013.
Mrs. Rodney was a member of Rock Hall United Methodist Charge and attended both Rock Hall Church and Raum Chapel. She was also a member of Sgt. Preston Ashley Post #228 American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of both Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Department and Galena Volunteer Fire Department.
She enjoyed baking, crocheting, playing cards, floral gardening, volunteering in her community, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband Vernon, she is survived by two children: Scott Rodney (Tracey) of Galena, MD and Stephanie Blizzard (James II) of Cordova, MD, two grandchildren: Noel Blizzard (Brandon Harris) of Cordova, MD and Lillian Blizzard of Cordova, MD, a brother: Elmer “Brother” Gustafson, Jr. (Marsha) of Springfield, MO, three sisters: Betty Unruh (Aubrey, Deceased) of Hartley, DE, Marianne Dulin (Frank) of Chestertown, MD, and Elma “Sis” Myers (Kenny, Deceased) of Worton, MD, along with a brother in law: David Kelly of Chestertown, MD. One sister the late Ellen Kelly predeceased her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends.
