Joseph Barwick Oliffe Jr. of Davie, Fl. died November 20, 2020 at Florida Memorial Hospital. He was 88.

Joe was born October 16, 1932 on Andelot Farm in Worton, Md. the son of the late Joseph Barwick Oliffe Sr. and Harriett Walls Oliffe.

In 1950 Joe signed to play baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers, a few years later he managed that AAA division. He then signed and played with the Pittsburgh Pirates, while playing for them he shared a room with the legendary Cal Ripken Sr. Joe later enlisted in the U.S. Army but transferred to the Navy so he could play ball for them.

He was an avid hunter and a guide for hunting parties. During his time as a guide he had the pleasure of taking former President Gerald R. Ford duck hunting. Later in life Joe started a career with DuPont and retired in 1986. Joe also had a passion for owning and racing Standard Bred horses here on the east coast.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Newnam Oliffe.

He is survived by his daughter Dee Oliffe of Newark, DE. sister Joyce Oliffe of Newark, DE. and brother Robert Oliffe of Davie, Fl.

A graveside service will be held at a later date by the family at Crumpton Cemetery in Crumpton, Md.
