Kathryn “Kitty” Louise Ireland Doll

Kathryn “Kitty” Louise Ireland Doll, 86, passed away on May 21, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The funeral service will be held at 1pm on May 26, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church in Fairlee, Md., with visitation from 12-1 prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will be at Chester Cemetery immediately following the service.

Born in Smithville, Maryland on October 19, 1934, Kitty was the youngest of eleven children to Marion Milton Ireland, Sr. and Nellie Louise Jacobs Price Ireland. Kitty attended Chestertown High School where she excelled in secretarial skills training. After graduation Kitty was employed by Carval Law Practice and then Raisin Law Practice. She then worked for the County Soil Conservation Service and then spent 28 years with the State Soil Conservation Service before her retirement.

On May 5, 1956 she married Frank Eugene Doll, Sr. They built their lifelong home in Fairlee, Maryland where they started their family and had two children, Laurie and Frank Jr. Kitty was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church. She and her husband later joined and regularly attended Chestertown Baptist Church. She loved her family, which included two grandchildren Zachary “Zack” Bullock and Alexandra “Allie” Bullock Pate and loved to come visit them. She is best remembered clowning around with her siblings and spending time with her best friend and neighbor, Pearl Plummer. She also enjoyed spending time on her porch and helping her husband harvest apples from their apple trees.

Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Eugene Doll Sr., her parents, seven brothers and three sisters. Milton Price, William Ireland, Elizabeth Coleman, James Ireland, “Little” Marion”, Samuel Ireland, Ellsworth Ireland, Ruth Fisher, Marion Ireland Jr., and Edith Doll. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Doll Bullock and husband Reid, of Greenville, NC. Son, Frank Eugene Doll Jr. and wife, Shelley of Culloden, WV; grandchildren, Zack (Callie) Bullock and Allie (Clay) Pate. Great granddaughter Haven Leal Bullock, all of Greenville, NC.

The family would like to thank all of those that helped keep mom at home in Fairlee for as long as possible. A special thanks to Francis and Pearl Plummer, Mike and Terri Dowling and family, Frank A and Robin Plummer and family, Living At Home Health Services, Village of Fairlee: Raye Jones, Ricky Elliott, Mary Lou Carter, Glen Michael, Pat Spencer, and Dickie and Heidi Manning. We are grateful for the special love and care given by all of those that cared for Kitty at Spring Arbor Memory Care Cottage in Greenville, NC.
