Henry Lewis ‘Lew’ Dodd, Sr., 70 of Chestertown, MD passed away on May 21, 2021 at home.
Lew was born on January 30, 1951, son of the late Thomas D. Sr. and Myrtle M. Lewis Dodd. He had lived his entire life on Cedar Run Farm where he farmed grain and livestock including beef, hogs, chickens and turkeys, until moving to Chestertown, July 2020. He is a descendant of farmers in America going back to the Revolutionary War.
He was a 1969 graduate of Queen Anne’s County High School where he was active with the FFA. His memberships include a life member of Church Hill Vol. Fire Co., holding numerous line and administrative positions including president and the Queen Anne’s Farm Bureau.
Lew, his wife Marilyn and his daughters Teri and Jenny had a strong following at the Chestertown Farmers Market. Cedar Run developed a strong reputation for high quality free range beef, chicken and turkeys.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, George and Marilyn Wilson.
Lew is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn Wilson Dodd; children, Henry Lewis Dodd, Jr. (Natalie) of Ridgley, Teri D. Peterson (Fred) of Hurlock and Jenny Spencer (Mike) of Chestertown; a brother T. Donahue Dodd, Jr. (Kathie) of Alabama and 9 grandchildren, Miranda and Macey Peterson, Grayson and Cole Spencer, Brooke, Jacob, Marshall, Ethan and Sean Dodd; and Marilyn’s siblings, George Wilson, Jr. (Candy), Brenda Quinn (Donnie), Carol Robbins (Gene) and David Wilson (JoAnn).
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 27 from 10 to 12 in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville, MD.
