Richard Hayes Bostic Sr. of Ingleside, MD passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at his home. He was 85 years old. He was born on December 21, 1935 in Ingleside the son of Paul and Elizabeth Bostic.
Mr. Bostic attended Sudlersville High School in his youth and began working at Gibson Farm Equipment. He then went to work for General Foods at night and farmed during the day, eventually transitioning to farming full time.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ingleside, the Ingleside Community Center, director of the Farm Bureau and head of the Beaver Dam Ditch Association. He was involved in Special Ed and enjoyed his time spent with other farmers after retirement. He also served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1957. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a friend to all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Richard “Richie” Hayes Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Bostic of Ingleside, MD; one son, Keith Bostic and daughter in law Vicki of Barclay, MD; three sisters, Delores Walls of Ingleside, MD, Connie Faulkner of Denton, MD, and Bonnie Elburn of Fairlee, MD; two grandchildren, Eric Bostic Jr. and his wife Debbie, Brittaney Bostic and six great-grandchildren, Isabel Olivo, Tony Olivo, Seth Passwaters, Eric Bostic III, Shane Bostic, and Tinsley Delp; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family of Mr. Bostic would like to extend a special thank you to the at-home care workers from Compass Regional Hospice, who cared for him in his home at the end of his life.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 26, at 12:30 pm at Sudlersville Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior at Fellows Family Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD from 11 am – 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Compass Regional Hospice at 160 Coursevall Dr. Centreville, MD 21617 or to the charity of your choice in Richard’s name.
