Lawrence Theodore Ford, of Chestertown, MD, died Monday, August 10, 2020, at home. He was 88.
Ted was born August 10, 1932 at Batt’s Neck, Stevensville, MD, son of the late Charles Owen Ford and Carrie L. Whitby.
He is survived by four of his children: Michael, Larry, Bridget/Bill Rahr, and Barbara/Terry Williams. He was preceded in death by his children Teddy, Suzy, Stevie, two grandchildren, Jonathan Clough and Emily Reuwer, and his first wife, Carol Quillen, whom he married in 1952.
Ted is survived by one sister, Mary Agnes Engle, of Centreville, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by siblings Charles, John, Barbara, Christine, and Francis.
He grew up on the family farm in Dominion. Over the years, he worked in construction (including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge), driving trucks, and mostly farm work, which he loved to do. He enjoyed fishing in his free time.
Ted joined the Maryland Army National Guard when he was 18 years old and proudly served from 1950-1953.
Ted was cremated at his request and a private memorial service will be held at a later date
