The Social Action Committee for Racial Justice in Chestertown has arranged to offer lunches for the homeless behind Sumner Hall on Queen Street from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Sumner Hall at 206 S Queen Street

SACRJ Co-Chair Arlene Lee announced the initiative at Monday’s Zoom Chat meeting of the Chestertown Council.

Lee said a table would be set up behind Sumner Hall in the parking lot off Cannon Street because the location is highly accessible to known homeless in the area.

She said Paul Cambardella and Rev. Diggs of the Samaritan Group of Kent County, who work with the homeless in Kent, have identified 8 individuals who could benefit from the initiative.

Bags will be available containing nonperishables, fresh fruit, shelf-stable milk, sanitary products and face masks.
